Heat Centre

This Heat Center that was installed with the capability to allow for a continuous saving of 2000kW, and is  designed to be expanded further.

• The system includes a closed loop heating circuit that uses waste energy available from a cogeneration plant to heat water up to 90°C.
• This water and energy is stored in a stratified tank, with the bottom being at 70°C and the top at 90°C.
• CFDs were done of the tank to determine the success of the stratification in the tank and the effect of system disturbances on this.
• The hot water is then pumped to packaging where 3 pasteuriser decks are able to be heated up, negating the need for steam to be used.
• Due to the size of the tank, the energy available can comfortably handle the initial heating up of the pasteurisers.
